We have a 6-year-old. Can we do a day trip to Athirappilly Waterfalls from Kochi, or is it too tiring?

Local Expert

"A day trip to Athirappilly Waterfalls is definitely doable and highly exciting for a 6-year-old, but it requires a bit of planning. The drive from Kochi takes about 2 to 2.5 hours each way. The main viewpoint at the top is easily accessible and safe. However, the trek down to the base of the falls can be slippery and steep, so I'd recommend skipping the descent with young children. Take plenty of water, snacks, and enjoy the stunning view from the safe railed viewing decks. 🌧️🌳"

"If you make the trip, I highly recommend stopping by the Thumboormuzhy Dam and Butterfly Garden on the way! It is located about 15 km before the waterfalls. It has a fantastic children's park, a suspension bridge with beautiful river views, and hundreds of colorful butterflies. It's the perfect spot to break the long drive and let kids stretch their legs. πŸ¦‹πŸŽ’"
